Engrave It Houston Sponsors Navy SEAL Danny Deitz Memorial Team Roping Wkend

People are important... Giving back is important... Making a difference is important. At Engrave It Houston, we have had the privilege of meeting some fine people who are dedicated to doing just that. Thought you might enjoy their stories from time to time.

We recently were introduced to the Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF), through one of their upcoming events: The Danny Dietz Memorial Team Roping Weekend 5th Annual BBQ Cook-Off/Auction will be held at Fort Bend county Fairgrounds in Rosenburg, May 23-25, 2014. It is going to be a great day to give back to our troops and support the families around them. Come on out for a  fun family event!

100% of the proceeds benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation in Danny Dietz' name. This foundation is dedicated to the support of widows and orphans of soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

This year is going to be even bigger and better than years past with the release of the movie "Lone Survivor",  illustrating the heroism and sacrifice of Danny Dietz in Operation Red Wing.

If you are unfamiliar with Danny Dietz's story... He was a US Navy SEAL killed in action on June 28, 2005, during "Operation Red Wing" (as written in the book Lone Survivor by Navy SEAL and Texas Marcus Luttrell and is now a motion picture "Lone Survivor") along with fellow Navy SEALs Michael Murphy and Matthew Axelson. They were killed when they were ambushed by over 100 taliban fighters. The only survivor was Marcus Luttrell, a native Texan. In the rescue mission that ensued, 16 special forces personnel, including 8 SEALS, died when their helicopter was shot down by Taliban fighters. The location of Dietz's body was unknown for seven days. Navy SEAL Danny Dietz's remains were recovered during a combat search and rescue operation on July 4, 2005. This operation was the largest single loss of life for Naval Special Warfare Foundation (NSWF) all the way back to Wold War II, a record which was sadly broken again 2011.
